इस बार का 69 वा गणतंत्र दिवस विदेश नीति के लिहाज से ऐतिहासिक रहा । आसियान देशों के सभी दस राष्ट्राध्यक्षों का मुख्य अतिथि के रुप में भारत पहुँचना हमारी एक्ट ईस्ट पॉलिसी के प्रति संवेदनशीलता को दर्शाता है ।

पूर्ण हैं । सन 1992 में इस संगठन के साथ केवल 3 बिलियन डॉलर का द्विपक्षीय व्यापार होता था वही वर्तमान में यह सत्तर बिलियन से भी ज्यादा हो चुका है , जिसे 2020 तक 200 बिलियन पहुँचाने का लक्ष्य भी रखा गया है ।
चीन के विस्तारवादी मंसूबों से आसियान देश ही नही बल्कि समूची वैश्विक बिरादरी चिंतित है । जापान आस्ट्रेलिया , अमेरिका व भारत के गठजोड़ से बना क्वाड इसी का नतीजा है ।
भारत के उत्कृष्ट कार्यक्रम मेक इन इंडिया में भी आसियान देशों की अहम भूमिका हो सकती है । ऐसे में ' पीपल टू पीपल कनेक्टिविटी ' व पर्यटन के माध्यम से रिश्तों में नये आयाम दिये जा सकते हैं

This time 69th Republic Day was historically in terms of foreign policy. Reaching India in the form of chief guest of all ten heads of ASEAN countries reflects the sensitivity to our East East Policy.
These Indian nationals are important for India mainly in terms of commerce and maritime security. In 1992, only $ 3 billion of bilateral trade was traded with this organization, and it has now been more than seventy billion, which has been targeted to reach 200 billion by 2020.
Not only the ASEAN country, but the entire global community is concerned with China's expansionist consensus. Japan is a result of the quadrade created by the alliance of Australia, America and India.
ASEAN countries can also play an important role in India's excellent program Make in India. In this way, new dimensions can be given in relationships through 'People to Peoples Connectivity' and tourism.
